Kristen Bell isn’t sure how much of her part will be left in

Kristin Bell had a scream working on Scream 4, but it seems her character could be destined to fall victim to the masked killer. The Veronica Mars star revealed she loved working on the sequel to the cult hit slasher trilogy, but isn’t sure how much screen time her character will end up having in the finished film.

Kristin hinted: “You never know, because if your part gets cut down or not, so I don’t know – we’ll see when it comes out…”

But she added: “It was really really fun. We shot it in my home state of Michigan so that was nice to be back.”

Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courteney Cox Arquette all reprise their roles in the new installment of the horror franchise.

The film sees Sidney Prescott, played by Neve, return to her small town of Woodsboro to promote a book she has written about the murders of the first three films.

Writer Gale Weathers Riley (Courteney) and husband Sheriff Dewey (David) begin investigating when murders start happening as soon as Sidney comes back.

Emma Roberts and Hayden Panettiere also star in the film as Sidney’s cousin and friend.

Anna Paquin and Kristen Bell in a new image from Scream 4

We’ve seen several photos from SCREAM 4 already, but to be honest with you, I had forgotten that Anna Paquin and Kristen Bell were doing Drew Barrymore-ish cameos in the upcoming sequel.  Below you can see the first image of the two ladies.   Rather than stopping at having two hot girls in their pajama’s, maybe Wes Craven will carry out the cliche and throw in a pillow fight or two as well.  I think that might be the only thing that would get me excited for this sequel.  If nothing else, then hopefully Wes Craven can find a new and innovative way to kill these two off and set a good tone for the rest of the film.

The film stars Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, David Arquette, Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, Adam Brody, Marielle Jaffe, Rory Culkin, Marley Shelton and Anthony Anderson.  You can also watch the trailer here. SCREAM 4 hits theaters everywhere next April 15th.

scream-4-pic.jpg“Scream 4” is currently filming in Michigan and is due out in 2011. Stars Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox tell EW about this next installment.

Turns out Gale Weathers isn’t the only one who can write a book. Sidney has written a self-help book. “She ends the book tour with going to Woodsboro and there she finds her cousin and her aunt and some friends and trouble ensues,” says Campbell.

Gale and Dewey have chosen to settle down in Woodsboro. “We’ve been married for 10 years,” says Cox. “I kinda gave up my job as the entertainment journalist. I’ve written six books, but now I have major writer’s block. I’m bored with my life and bored with my marriage and bored with the silly small town of Woodsboro.” Sidney’s return helps get Gale’s investigative juices flowing again. Says Cox, “It’s actually the anniversary of the first killing in Woodsboro. When she arrives to promote her book, things start happening, and I couldn’t be more thrilled.”

As for the film itself, director Wes Craven says it harkens back to the original “Scream.”

“I think it has echoes to the first [film]. There’s been a whole decade of horror films that in one way or another followed a certain pattern. Like you had torture porn, [and] a ton of remakes,” explains Craven. “The first [‘Scream’] was very much observing where horror had been for the last 10 to 20 years. And this is very much looking at where horror has been for the last 10 years. There’s always somebody trying to figure out what the rules are to keep from getting killed.”

Craven Screams About Scream 4

We interviewed horror filmmaker Wes Craven earlier this week about his new movie My Soul to Take, during which time we got him to chat a bit about his next project, Scream 4.

IGN: You’ve assembled quite an ensemble for Scream 4, including stars who are new to the series such as Anna Paquin and Kristen Bell. Will their parts essentially be one-off scenes for the actors or are they full roles?

Wes Craven: It depends on the roles, but it’s kind of Dimension Films’ and Bob Weinstein’s modus operandi to pay the money and get people that are stars for the roles so that’s the way it was done. It was much larger budget, frankly, than we had [on My Soul to Take] the kids were a lot younger, our characters were a lot younger so on Scream there’s a lot of people everybody knows.

IGN: So what’s been the most pleasant aspect of your return to Scream after such a long break from it?

Craven: It’s been 10 years. I think just working with everyone again and with Courteney [Cox] and David [Arquette]. Sort of getting back together again with those people, and it’s always fun working with new young talent. For me it was even more fun on My Soul to Take because we were completely in control of casting and were finding people who were totally unknown so it was fun making the first discovery of some of these kids.

IGN: Have you decided what your next project will be?

Craven: Frankly, we just wrapped Scream 4 about a week ago. We’re obviously right in the middle of doing press for My Soul to Take and then we have probably well into next year doing post-production, so I’m really not thinking about anything else now except getting (My Soul to Take) released in the best way possible and then I’m looking at 4, 5 or 6 months of post work so I’m not thinking about it at the minute.

IGN: Anything happening with other remakes of your films, such as Shocker?

Craven: Nothing’s going on with that right now, frankly. Shocker and The People Under the Stairs had been things that I’d been involved with that at one point we were proposing be remade, and at that time Universal was going through the throes of a lot of changes and for a long time they weren’t making decisions of that sort. And at a certain point I’d thought I’d done enough remakes and needed to get back to writing and directing. To me, it was more important to do original material than to remake something I’d already done once.

IGN: Some horror producers have bemoaned the difficulties in getting R-rated, hardcore horror films made in the current marketplace and in trying to sell them overseas. What are your thoughts on that dilemma?

Craven: I don’t know who really feels that. I certainly don’t from my experience. Nothing’s been easy for me to get things going, but I’ve been very fortunate. There’s a ton of genre material out there right now so I don’t have the feeling that it’s that hard to get it done. In fact, I wish people would make a few fewer of them!

My Soul to Take is now playing. Scream 4 opens April 15, 2011.
